About Hartzell Propeller

Hartzell Propeller LLC designs and manufactures aircraft propellers at One Propeller Place in Piqua, Ohio. The company traces its history to 1914, when a relationship between Orville Wright and Robert Hartzell led to the first Hartzell airplane propeller in 1917, and it still uses the founding principle "Built on Honor" as its core value. Hartzell supplies propellers to most major aircraft manufacturers and is a subsidiary of Arcline Investment Management, which also owns Hartzell Engine Technologies.

Products

Services

Overhaul and repair of Hartzell propellers is done at the factory-owned Hartzell Propeller Service Center in Piqua (FAA repair station SJ3R843L) and through a worldwide network of recommended service facilities and service and support centers, independent repair stations that meet Hartzell's own standards as well as their local authority's. Hartzell also publishes technical support material, a reference library, a training schedule and product registration online. Piqua Airport (I17), also known as Hartzell Field, is next to the plant.

Cirrus

Hartzell makes the propellers fitted to Cirrus aircraft and sells Top Prop conversions for the Cirrus SR20, SR22 and SR22T. The Top Prop catalogue lists a 74 inch three blade aluminium propeller for the SR20 with the IO-360-ES engine (also fitted as standard or optional equipment on the SR20, SR20 G3, SR20 GTS, SRV and SRV G3), propellers for the SR20 with the Lycoming IO-390-C3B6, a 78 inch three blade structural carbon fiber propeller with an optional de-ice boot for the SR22 and SR22T with IO-550-N and TSIO-550-K engines, and the 78 inch four blade carbon fiber "Odyssey" propeller for the SR22 (STC SA04468CH) and SR22T (STC SA04440CH). For the Odyssey, Hartzell quotes one knot more cruise and four percent better climb than its three blade composite propeller, 1.7 dB(A) less cabin noise, nickel-cobalt edge protection on the blades and a 2,400 hour or six year TBO. Top Prop propellers carry a warranty to first overhaul. The Hartzell Service Center also keeps SR20 and SR22 propellers in its exchange program.
