H55
Electric propulsion systems for aircraft, based in Zug, Switzerland
About H55
H55 is a Swiss company that builds certifiable energy storage and electric propulsion systems for aircraft. Its European headquarters is H55 S.A. in Sion, Switzerland. Its North American headquarters is H55 Canada Inc. in Longueuil, Quebec.
The company says it grew out of the Solar Impulse project. The site says its first battery module entered operations with Solar Impulse 1 in 2009. It says its technology has powered electric and hybrid aircraft for more than twenty years. The site reports more than 2,000 hours flown and 50,000 km flown.
H55 integrates lithium-ion cells into one flight ready system. The site says each cell has patented monitoring and protection. Its systems are designed for electric and hybrid aircraft, from passenger aircraft to autonomous drones, and for retrofits as well as new designs.
The site says H55 was the first company to complete all EASA mandated, witnessed propulsion battery certification tests. It also lists more than 20 patent families.
Projects named on the site include an energy storage system for a 49 seat hybrid electric demonstrator with Pratt and Whitney Canada and De Havilland Dash-8. It also lists the SF-1 with Smartflyer, a Bristell B23 Energic electric propulsion system with BRM Aero, a Piper Archer retrofit with CAE and a De Havilland Beaver retrofit with Harbour Air.
The site says the company has production capacity in Switzerland and Canada and works with a qualified supply chain. The phone number is +41 27 564 96 00. The contact form serves customers, investors, press and job candidates.
