About Gruppo SAVE

Gruppo SAVE is an Italian airport group based in Venice. Through SAVE S.p.A., it manages Venice Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Airport in north-east Italy.

The group was founded in 1987. In 2019 it had 1,196 employees, net revenue of 240.6 million euro and 14.8 million passengers. It describes its strategy as focused on growing the airport business.

Together, the airports of Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia form the Polo Aeroportuale Nordest, the north-east Italian airport system. It handled about 15 million passengers in 2022, which was 81 percent of the 2019 level after the pandemic. SAVE holds a 40 percent stake in the Verona and Brescia airports. It also holds a 40-year concession for Treviso from the civil aviation authority ENAC.

Venice set passenger records of more than 9 million in 2016 and more than 10 million in 2017. ENAC signed a programme contract for the airport that backs planned investment in infrastructure and service quality. Venice also opened a new passenger terminal and new cargo buildings. Over time, the group added intercontinental routes, including Chicago and Seoul, and passed 14 million passengers across Venice and Treviso.

The group has also grown beyond Venice. It bought a 27.65 percent stake in Brussels South Charleroi Airport with a partner. It once ran food and beverage and retail businesses and sold most of them to Lagardere, keeping a 50 percent partnership for Venice, Treviso and Verona. It left ground handling at Venice, sold its stake in Centostazioni to Ferrovie dello Stato, and listed on the Italian stock exchange before its shares were delisted in October 2017 after a public offer from a shareholder.

Recent news shows airline growth at Venice. Wizz Air based a fourth aircraft there and added five routes in 2026. Volotea planned a second aircraft and two routes to Greece. EgyptAir announced a Venice to Cairo service, and the airport tested the EU Entry/Exit System for travellers from outside the EU. The group is also an official supporter of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and it joined the presentation of a green hydrogen plant for a project in Padua.
