About Dubai Airports

Dubai Airports owns and manages the operation and development of both of Dubai's airports: Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central, Al Maktoum International (DWC). Its corporate site describes DXB as the world's busiest airport for international passengers and DWC as Dubai's airport of the future.

Dubai International (DXB)

DXB opened in 1960 and has grown at average annual rates in double digits. In 2025 it handled 95.2 million guests, its highest annual traffic and, according to the company, the most international passengers handled in a year by any airport. DXB connects to 291 destinations through 108 international carriers and is described as the most connected hub in the Asia Pacific and Middle East. Facilities include the US$1.2 billion Concourse D, which serves the international airlines operating from Terminal 1, and Concourse A, the first and largest purpose-built A380 facility, one of three concourses used exclusively by Emirates.

Dubai World Central (DWC)

DWC began cargo operations on 27 June 2010 and opened to passengers on 27 October 2013. Its passenger terminal was later expanded from 7 million to 26 million passengers a year. It currently supports seasonal charter and scheduled flights, cargo and general aviation. Phase Two of the expansion, announced by the Dubai Government in April 2024 with an investment of US$35 billion, plans five runways and capacity for 150 million passengers a year within a decade, rising ultimately to 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo.
