About Gran Systems

Gran Systems was founded in 2008 and specializes in system integration and think tank services for the new space, semiconductor equipment and medical device industries. The name Gran means great and large, and the company focuses on large scale solutions. It is based in Houston, Texas.

The company says its products were featured on NASA's Small Satellite website in 2021. It was also highlighted in NASA's 2024 Small Satellite Technology report. Gran Systems describes its goal as defining the future from small to large. The website says Gran Systems has grown into a trusted partner for its customers.

Gran Systems designs and manufactures CubeSats, from concept to assembly. It provides customizable structures, payload integration and electronics for universities, researchers and commercial clients. Its CubeSat bus is available in sizes from 1U to 16U and includes an on board computer and an electric power system.

The company's R2D3 CubeSat bus can carry a deorbit drag device. The website says this allows controlled passive deorbiting from altitudes up to 700 km, and that the design is intended to meet the FCC five year end of life rule. Other products include MyPOD deployers and a 1U educational CubeSat kit.

Gran Systems offers satellite launch services, space experiments and microgravity research, and space environment testing. Its testing services cover thermal vacuum, vibration and EMC testing. The company also offers space for experiments, including nanolabs, zero G flights and payloads for research missions.

The company runs space education programs for schools and universities. These include experiment kits, CubeSat workshops and challenges such as the KIBO Robot Programming Challenge and an AI Space Challenge. The programs introduce students of all ages to space science, engineering and programming.

The website says the company works with an international network of partners. It is particularly interested in working with commercial and university research sectors on experiments in microgravity.
