Gevo
Low-carbon fuels and sustainable aviation fuel maker in Colorado
About Gevo
Gevo, Inc. is a renewable fuels and chemicals company headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. It says it delivers low-carbon fuels and chemicals using carbon dioxide as its renewable carbon source. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is one of its named products.
Sustainable aviation fuel
Gevo says it makes SAF from the starch in non-food-grade field corn grown on American farms. The corn starch is fermented to alcohol, which is then upgraded to jet fuel through alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) chemistry. The company states that the fuel meets ASTM D1655 and D7566 specifications and works as a drop-in fuel in commercial aircraft and airport fuelling systems.
Other products and sites
Gevo also lists low-carbon ethanol, renewable natural gas, isobutanol, isobutylene, isooctane, protein products and carbon dioxide removal. Its sites page names the Englewood headquarters, an RNG plant in north west Iowa, Gevo North Dakota in Richardton, a development facility in Luverne, Minnesota, and a biorefinery in Silsbee, Texas.
