About Figeac Aero

FIGEAC AERO is a French aerospace subcontractor that produces elementary metal parts and sub-assemblies for the major aircraft manufacturers. Founded in January 1989 by aerospace mechanical engineer Jean-Claude Maillard in Figeac, in the Lot department, it is headquartered at the Zone industrielle de l'Aiguille in Figeac and is listed on Euronext in Paris. The group describes itself as a European producer of light alloy (aluminium) and hard metal (titanium, Inconel and steel) aerospace parts, machined from sheets, castings and metal matrix materials, and is certified to ISO 9001 and EN 9100.

Capabilities

  • Metal machining by material removal on more than 300 numerically controlled machines, from 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres and gantry machines to vertical lathes, turn-mill centres and profile machining, producing parts from 26 mm fittings to aircraft spars more than 20 metres long
  • Sheet metal work and forming through SN Auvergne Aeronautique, acquired in 2016, with high-power presses, laser cutting, welding and X-ray quality control
  • Surface treatment, heat treatment and painting
  • Assembly of sub-assemblies, control and quality, supply chain and engineering services

Parts shown on the site include an A320 titanium engine pylon part, an A350 titanium aerofoil fastener and titanium welded sheet metal parts. In 2026 the group acquired Bodycote Sud-Ouest, strengthened its exposure to the Rafale fighter with the canard foreplanes, and was selected to support the Leclerc tank upgrade.

History and sites

After specialising in small aluminium parts, FIGEAC AERO took over MTI in Decazeville in 1994 for forming, welding and large part machining, moved into large aluminium structural parts with high-speed machining in the early 2000s and acquired Mecabrive Industries in 2004. Airbus selected it as a top-20 global supplier for its family of components in 2010, and the group opened an apprentice training centre in Figeac. Best-cost production began in Tunisia in 2011, FIGEAC AERO Picardie was set up for Stelia Aerospace, a site in Kansas (FIGEAC AERO North America) followed in 2014, and subsidiaries in Morocco (Nouasseur, near Mohammed V airport), Mexico and Saint-Nazaire were created in 2015, with a further site in Brazi, Romania. The group is a member of the Mecanic Vallee cluster.
