Borrelly

Borrelly Spring Washers is a French family business founded in Lyon in 1933 that designs and manufactures spring washers and custom washers, now in its fourth generation and based in the Parc d'activités des Platières at Saint-Laurent d'Agny near Lyon. Founder Alexandre Borrelly started a general mechanics workshop; his son Albert took over in 1968 and from the 1970s focused the company on spring washers, and after Albert's death in 1990 his wife and children Agnès and Dominique continued the business, with Dominique and his wife Christel taking over management in 1998. For more than 50 years Borrelly has been a supplier of aircraft washers, including flight instrument washers for the largest contractors in the aviation industry, and its springs are designed to store maximum energy in minimum space.

• Wave washers, created and developed by the Borrelly family and mainly used to take up internal play to reduce vibration and extend bearing life
• Ondufil wave springs that restore loads equivalent to a coil spring in a much smaller axial space, and ribbon springs
• Belleville disc springs, which can be stacked for high loads and a wide range of load curves, and the ROB optimised Belleville disc spring offering considerable weight savings
• Borrelly 360 spiral retaining rings with the features of circlips but easier assembly and disassembly, diaphragm washers and thin shim washers that control clearance between a bearing and its housing
• Catalogue references generally available from stock, with precision ranges manufactured under an EN 9100 quality management system and available one week after order

Engineering and markets

An in-house design office handles design, studies and industrialisation of custom washers from prototype to mass production for demanding sectors including aeronautics, aerospace, automotive, nuclear and agriculture, drawing on what the company describes as 90 years of expertise. Borrelly supports customers through a sales network across Europe, with teams in France and local partners offering service in French, English, Italian and German, and places its quality management system at the heart of its work for major contractors.
