About Electroimpact

Electroimpact is an aerospace automation company based in Mukilteo. It builds assembly machines, tooling and robotic systems for aircraft and spacecraft factories.

The company has a high share of engineers on its staff. Its founder set it up as a base for engineers, with each person owning a job from first concept to customer acceptance and with little red tape.

Its projects include complete automated assembly systems for commercial aircraft wings. It also builds riveting machines and tools for wing panel and fuselage assembly, advanced fiber placement machines, robotic assembly systems and spacecraft handling equipment. Drilling machines have been built for programs such as the A400M, the A380, the C-Series wing and the 787 side-of-body. Final assembly lines cover the Global 5000 and 6000 and the Global 7000 and 8000 business jets.

The product list also covers additive manufacturing, cold working tools, electromagnetic dent removal, flex track, non-destructive inspection and offline programming. The robotic range includes drill and fill, laser ablation, and trim and mill systems. Cold working tools include sleeves, mandrels, puller guns and pumps. The company says cold worked holes can have three to five times the fatigue life of holes that are not cold worked.

In composites, Electroimpact makes automated fiber placement machines. It says its newest approach can raise throughput by four to eight times. News items include a 99 ton, 39 foot tall fiber placement machine for Rocket Lab's Neutron rocket, and a dual fiber placement and tape laying system at the UK National Composites Centre. The company has also worked with BAE Systems on a factory of the future, and with Toray, Janicki and Victrex on thermoplastic parts.

Electroimpact also offers metrology services. These are CNC machine metrology, contract measurement, laser tracker rental and metrology consulting. The company has campuses in Mukilteo, the United Kingdom, Australia and France.
