About COMSOL

COMSOL develops COMSOL Multiphysics, a general purpose simulation platform for fully coupled multiphysics and single physics modelling. Engineers and researchers use it to simulate real world designs, devices and processes across many industries.

The company was founded in 1986. It has 16 offices and a distributor network around the world, and it employs more than 700 people. Its modelling environment uses the same interface for geometry creation, meshing, model setup and results, whatever the application or physics.

The Model Builder combines multiple physics in any order. The Application Builder lets engineers build custom simulation apps and digital twins. COMSOL Compiler turns apps into standalone executables, and COMSOL Server manages and distributes apps to run in a web browser or on a thin client.

Add on modules cover electromagnetics, structural mechanics, acoustics, fluid flow, heat transfer and chemical engineering. LiveLink products connect directly to CAD and other third party software. GPU accelerated and HPC ready solvers support faster, scalable simulation.

COMSOL has announced version 2027, which adds system level modelling, agentic AI workflows and a new Electric Motor Module. The company is the official multiphysics partner of Formula E, supporting engineers in the high performance electric motorsport series.

Events include the annual COMSOL Conference, free one day COMSOL Days, instructor led training courses and webinars. A learning centre, videos and support resources help users. The company's office is in Burlington, Massachusetts.
