Filtronic

Filtronic develops advanced RF and microwave subsystems for space, defence and terrestrial communications. Its work runs from design and manufacture through to test, and it describes its focus as connecting space, air and ground through high frequency technology.

In space, Filtronic supplies RF payload subsystems for satellite communications, phased array antennas, software defined radios, high throughput feeder links, lunar terminals and synthetic aperture radar. Its space work also covers high altitude platforms, satellite user terminals and ground stations and gateways.

For defence, Filtronic offers gateways, AESA radar, electronic warfare decoys and jammers, tactical communications, UAV systems and radar payloads. It describes this work as advanced RF capability for complex and mission critical environments.

Its technology range includes SSPAs such as Cerus, Prometheus and Taurus, TxRx products such as Morpheus X2, Hercules II and Hades X2, tower top amplifiers, frequency converters, filters, software and digital RF products, and advanced manufacturing services. Orbits covered include GEO, MEO, LEO, VLEO and HAPS.

The company has received UK Space Agency funding to advance digital satellite ground networks and announced a US$68.1 million order from SpaceX. It has also adopted a new brand identity to reflect its next phase of growth. Its story pages describe almost five decades of history.
