Clean Planet Technologies
Waste plastics to sustainable aviation fuel, hydrogen and circular monomers

About Clean Planet Technologies
Clean Planet Technologies is the technology development company of the Clean Planet Group, a UK organisation founded in 2018 by Dr Andrew Odjo, Adel Louertatani, Fernando Diamond and Bertie Stephens to tackle plastic waste and climate change. Based at 124 City Road, London, the group works through three companies: Clean Planet Energy, which builds advanced recycling infrastructure, Clean Planet Technologies, which develops new conversion technologies, and the Clean Planet Foundation, which educates and takes action, including the Ellie Ment children's book series. Its stated mission is to remove more than one million tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastic waste from the environment every year, and the group won the Lloyds Bank Sustainable Business of the Year award presented by the Chancellor and a strategic investment from FTAI Infrastructure, part of Fortress Investment Group, to expand advanced recycling and sustainable aviation fuel infrastructure.
Plastics to sustainable aviation fuel
- A patented process converting mixed, non-recyclable waste plastics into drop-in sustainable aviation jet fuel that cuts CO2 emissions by at least 70 percent against fossil jet fuel, is fully miscible with conventional kerosene and compatible with existing aircraft, pipelines and tanks, fitting within existing ASTM D7566 definitions
- What the company describes as the world's first waste-plastics-to-SAF pilot facility, opened in the second quarter of 2026, with UK SAF Clearing House funding awarded to accelerate qualification and support from the UK Department for Transport
- Recognition with an MEA Business Award for exceptional new clean energy technology and a showcase at the Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress 2026
Other technologies
Clean Planet Technologies also develops conversion of waste plastics to clean hydrogen with zero CO2 emissions, conversion of waste plastics to circular ethylene and propylene monomers for virgin-quality plastics, the high-efficiency SAFe technology for ultra-clean circular fuels and petrochemical feedstocks, pyrolysis of PVC and PET wastes, pyrolysis oil purification and char processing packages, and conversion of bio and plastic wastes to solvents, with proprietary technology access for partners. The group's Sustainability Innovation Centre supports this work, and it has featured on the BBC for its plastics-to-SAF research.
