Aircraft fuel quantity senders maker, Bend, Oregon
About CiES
- Cirrus specialistCirrus-focused company, not an authorized service center
CiES Inc. is a fuel quantity sensor manufacturer based in Bend, Oregon. The company designs, certifies and manufactures digital magneto-resistive fuel senders for aircraft, with more than 120,000 senders in service and, by its own count, more than 50,000 aircraft worldwide using its fuel quantity sensors. CiES supplies original equipment manufacturers and sells directly to aircraft owners, and it also makes level sensors for automotive, LPG propane, marine and rotorcraft applications.
Products
- Magneto-resistive fuel quantity senders for small, medium and large aircraft and rotorcraft
- New-install packages: general installations, supplemental installations, Cessna twin installations, Cirrus installations and Piper PA46 installations
- Fuel system components
- Sensors for automotive, LPG propane and marine use
The company's site explains that its senders use magnetic field sensing rather than a resistive float contact, which it says gives certified full-range accuracy down to empty. The senders are approved for use with Garmin TXi and Dynon engine indication systems, and CiES encourages owners upgrading their panels to replace the fuel quantity system at the same time. The company describes itself as the largest supplier of aviation fuel quantity probes and sensors.
Cirrus
CiES lists Cirrus among its small aircraft applications, alongside Beechcraft, Cessna, Mooney, Piper and SAAB, and sells a dedicated Cirrus installation package under its New Installs menu. The site also publishes Cirrus installation instructions in its documentation section. Model coverage and part numbers for individual Cirrus SR models should be confirmed with the company.
Approvals
- FAA STC with Approved Model List (AML) for new installs
- FAA, EASA and ANAC approvals
- Garmin TXi EIS and Dynon approved
Support
CiES provides technical support and customer service by phone and email, a service difficulty report procedure, FAQs, a warranty and returns policy, a documentation library with agency approvals and installation instructions, a video library and a quote request form. The company sponsors pilot Mindy Lindheim and the Chasin' Tailwinds YouTube channel, and its news section covers topics such as fuel quantity readings in flight and panel upgrades.
