Aveo Engineering LLC

Aveo Engineering designs and makes aircraft lighting, composite parts, avionics and drone systems for customers in more than 110 countries. The company works under the Aveo Engineering Group and Aveo Engineering LLC names. It describes itself as a Czech company, and it has sales contacts in Italy and Germany.

Aveo is privately held and says it carries no debt. It is in its 25th year. A former US Navy pilot founded it, and he and his wife still own it. Many senior managers are former military staff or pilots, with skills in electronic warfare, avionics, optics, night vision and aircraft design.

Lighting is the best known part of the business. Aveo makes exterior and interior lighting, in visible and dual-mode visible and infrared versions. It fits commercial jets such as the 737, business jets such as Gulfstream, most general aviation and light sport models, turboprops, civil helicopters and drones. The range now has more than 900 products. The company says nearly 90 percent of the dual-mode lighting market is in its customer base.

Aveo's work goes beyond lights. In 2010 it built the first Conforma wingtips, including one for the General Atomics Predator. It now makes low-drag, weight-saving wingtips and winglets for drones and general aviation. Conforma has grown into full fuselage belly replacements with built-in lighting, night vision, cameras and micro radar for helicopters and drones. Aveo is also the first Czech company to put its products on the Moon, on two NASA missions in 2024 and 2025.

The company groups its products into three lines. Light Aveo covers helicopter lighting, searchlights, cabin lighting, drone lighting, commercial jet lighting and Conforma wingtips. Dark Aveo covers aviation, vehicle and marine lights and pods, drones, autonomous systems, vision sensors and carbon parts. Pro Aveo covers composites, avionics, marine products, autonomous systems and engineering services.

Aveo says it designs and builds everything itself instead of buying in parts. It works with more than 250 close partners in the Czech Republic, plus others across Europe and the USA. It holds several hundred patents. It works informally with customers and says it solves hard technical problems without charging for engineering set-up.

Recent news includes a very small three-in-one navigation, position and strobe light for drones. It also includes a night mountain rescue in the Dolomites, where an Avincis crew flew with Aveo lighting.
