Applied Avionics

Applied Avionics, Inc. manufactures VIVISUN lighted pushbutton switches and indicators and NEXSYS component technology for aircraft cockpits and avionics systems. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, the company was known as Aerospace Optics, Inc. until November 2015, when it changed its name to reflect the NEXSYS line, and in 2024 it was acquired by Loar Holdings Inc., a group of niche aerospace and defence component companies.

• VIVISUN advanced lighted pushbutton switches and indicators, chosen by OEM aircraft manufacturers and military services worldwide, with life-of-the-platform reliability
• NEXSYS component technology: ruggedised electronic building blocks such as ARINC 429 to discrete signal converters, solid state relays, time delays and Boolean logic gates, which can be mixed and matched and are now available as through-hole devices for printed circuit boards
• NEXSYS Module and NEXSYS LYNK integrated signal processor for system integration behind the cockpit panel
• Programmable cockpit displays, switch guards, panel plugs, multinode terminal blocks, accessories and installation tools

The company says NEXSYS lets integrators avoid the safety, software testing and certification challenges of custom circuit boards or single-function hardware.

Sales and support

A sales team with more than 60 years of combined service covers the United States and Canada by region, supported by a network of international representatives across Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Technical and sales support is available on a toll-free line, and president Matt Hawkins says the NEXSYS line extends the company beyond traditional man-machine interfaces.
