AmSafe Bridport

AmSafe Bridport designs and manufactures engineered textile solutions for the safety and securement needs of the global aerospace and defence markets. The company was formed in 1979 from the industrial division of Bridport-Gundry and has its head office at The Court, West Street, Bridport, Dorset. Its products withstand high dynamic loads and cover airframe restraints, cabin barriers and cargo handling and movement systems.

Product lines

• Cargo: pallet nets and cargo restraint nets, including the Pallet Net Zero net, which the company describes as 59 percent lighter than a traditional polyester pallet net and certified to TSO C90D
• Cabin: 9g main deck barriers and restraint products that protect crew and passengers
• Fire: MANTLE fire containment and protection products for the cabin and cargo hold
• Defence: troop protection products, including the Tarian RPG net armour system introduced in 2004
• MRO: aftermarket support and repairs

Design and engineering

The design team holds a UK CAA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval, which allows changes to existing products and Supplementary Type Certificates within its scope, and a DAOS approval for Ministry of Defence work. The company uses non-linear finite element analysis, full scale structural testing and 3D CAD modelling, and says its analysis methods have been approved by authorities such as the FAA and EASA.
