AMKOM Design Group

AMKOM Design Group Inc. is a company in San Marcos, California that designs and builds block up converters (BUCs) and amplifiers for the SATCOM and VSAT markets. It was established in 2016. The company says its management and engineering teams are young and experienced.

The company focuses on X-band, Ku-band and Ka-band BUCs and solid state power amplifiers. It says it has the equipment and knowledge to work up to 110 GHz. It also takes on custom design projects for customers.

Its main off the shelf products are Ku-band BUCs, in extended (13.75 to 14.5 GHz) and low (12.75 to 13.25 GHz) versions. Output power options include 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60, 80 and 100 watts. The company also lists DBS-band BUCs, Ka-band BUCs and a redundancy system kit for units from 16 W to 150 W. It offers a fanless 20 W Ku-band model too.

AMKOM says its units use a weatherproof, lightweight package built for a mean time between failures of at least 15 years in normal use. The design is made to handle vibration, high winds and bumps on the road while keeping a stable signal at temperatures up to 70 degrees C. The units use GaAs and GaN power amplifiers with internal overdrive protection.

Each unit is built, assembled and tested at the company's California facility under its acceptance testing procedure. The company's quality policy is to design and make amplifiers of many frequencies and to offer design services in the VSAT and SATCOM markets. It aims to meet or exceed what customers expect.

AMKOM shows its products at the SATELLITE conference and exhibition. It names RDVW SATCOM Solutions and Engineers in Delhi as its partner in India. It says satisfaction, support, honesty and transparency help build long client relationships.
