A fly-in is a gathering where pilots fly their own aircraft to an airport for the day, park on the field and meet other pilots. Most are informal general aviation events run by airports, flying clubs or local chapters of pilot associations. Expect light aircraft, homebuilts and vintage types on the ramp, often with a breakfast or lunch, aircraft on display and safety talks. Many fly-ins are timed around the summer flying season, and some act as stop-offs for pilots travelling to the EAA AirVenture convention at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Pilots planning to attend should check the event's arrival procedures, any NOTAMs, parking and fuel availability, and whether the airport needs a prior permission request. Non-pilots are usually welcome to drive in and look around.
