Aviation in Monaco

Monaco has no airport. Private jets and airliners land at Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE), about 30 km away, and smaller business jets can also use Cannes-Mandelieu. The last stretch is usually flown by helicopter: the flight from Nice airport to the Monaco Heliport in Fontvieille takes about 7 minutes, against 40 minutes or more by road.

The heliport is run by Monaco's Direction de l'Aviation Civile. Two operators fly the regular shuttle and private transfers: Monacair, flying since 1988, and Héli Air Monaco, founded in 1976, which also serves Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Helicopter pilots can train locally with the Aéroclub de Monaco, founded in 1941.
