History
Founder Shell Youngwall began his aviation career with the Swedish Air Force during the Second World War and afterwards sourced surplus parts for colleagues in Sweden. Transaero was established in 1954 in the commercial aviation market, supplying spares from Fifth Avenue in New York before moving to Mineola, then a larger facility in Woodbury and finally Melville. It won its first US government contracts, expanded as a global supplier of aviation and life support parts, and Perry Youngwall became president. The company attends industry trade shows including AUSA.
