Thoroughbred Aviation Maintenance is an aircraft and helicopter maintenance company headquartered at Blue Grass Airport (LEX), 4316 Hangar Drive, Lexington, Kentucky. It was founded as Thoroughbred Helicopters in 1988 and was owned by the RJ Corman Railroad group from 2005, operating as RJ Corman Aircraft Maintenance. Joe Otte and Todd Case bought the company in 2016 and restored the Thoroughbred name. Regular hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, with 24-hour AOG service.

About the company

In 2018 Thoroughbred acquired Mustang Aviation at Blue Grass Airport. The deal added a Cessna, Cirrus and Diamond service center and doubled the avionics department. The company is an FAA repair station, a Beechcraft piston service center and a Diamond service center. It is also approved as a service center for Airbus helicopters, Tecnam, Rotax, Robinson R22 and R44, and MD Helicopters. It maintains aircraft from small Cessnas to corporate jets, and helicopters up to the AS 365N3. Customers include government and law enforcement agencies in Kentucky and Indiana, and it holds two five-year USDA contracts for Airbus H120 helicopters.

  • 24/7 on-call AOG support for commercial and charter flights at Lexington, with a 30-minute response time

Service centers operate at Central Kentucky Regional (RGA), Big Sandy (SJS) and Georgetown Executive in Texas (GTU). AOG on-call locations are at Georgetown-Scott County (27K), Danville (DVK) and Lake Cumberland (SME).
