The Radiation Team

The Radiation Team, also called the Rad Team, provides radiation reliability services for space systems. It describes its work as setting the standard through radiation testing, analysis and hardware design, and says it mitigates the impact of ionizing radiation at every stage of development.

Services

• Radiation testing, using a wide network of facility partnerships to secure beam time quickly and often so that schedules stay on track
• Mission assurance and analysis, with multi-disciplined engineers assessing a system from the integrated circuit level to the full spacecraft vehicle
• Hardware design: as avionics experts the team approaches a system from the ground up, with radiation mitigation at the centre of the design strategy

Who it works with

• New Space and commercial companies that need to control costs and accelerate delivery
• The Defense Industrial Base and legacy space organisations, including NASA, where services are tailored to stringent standards and long-term mission requirements
• Universities and research institutions, where the team provides technical expertise, infrastructure and hands-on support to move research toward flight

Customers and projects

The website shows work with companies including Innoflight, Manifest Space, Astrolab and K2 Space, and refers to projects such as cyber secure space avionics, a global coordination system for space traffic management, commercial planetary rovers, high-power satellite platforms and the International Space Station.

Shows

The Radiation Team appears in the exhibitor and sponsor lists of the Small Satellite Conference (Popcorn sponsor), SmallSat Europe, SmallSat Symposium, Space Tech Expo Europe and SATELLITE.
