Plane Data, Inc. is an aircraft appraisal company based in Terrell, North Carolina. Mike Simmons, its President, founded it, and it has done field-verified appraisals since 1992. Every report starts with an in-person look at the aircraft and a review of its logbooks and records.
What Plane Data does
Plane Data writes aircraft appraisal reports for piston aircraft, turboprops, business jets and helicopters. It offers two formal reports:
- USPAP-Compliant Appraisal Report: for IRS filings, estate values, charitable donations, divorce and court cases. It covers every aircraft type Plane Data appraises.
- PAAO Certified Appraisal Report: for piston single and twin aircraft. It is used for financing, refinancing, collateral review and insurance.
It also offers an Aircraft Risk Analysis for $250, so a buyer can check a price before paying for a full appraisal. For some piston aircraft there is a Non-Certified Aircraft Valuation, which is made from documents only and is not used for financing, tax or court work.
Who it serves
Clients include aircraft buyers and owners, banks and lenders, law firms, insurance companies, CPAs and other aviation companies across the United States. Plane Data says its reports have helped in hundreds of aircraft finance deals and in several court cases.
