About Tendeg

Tendeg is a Colorado designer and manufacturer of deployable antennas and structures for space missions, headquartered at Innovation Drive, a new 160,000 square foot production hub in Louisville, Colorado built for the scaled production of deployable antennas. Founded and led by Gregg Freebury, the company is fully AS9100 certified and has flown more than 25 deployable systems with 100 percent deployment and mission success, with customers including Capella Space, NASA, Lockheed Martin and Astranis. It manages the full lifecycle of each system, from design and prototyping through in-house thermal vacuum, vibration and deployment testing to integration and delivery, under a test-as-we-fly development model.

Products

  • Perimeter Truss Reflector (PTR), a TRL-8 integrated deployable antenna combining reflector, boom and feed, scalable from 2 m to over 20 m in diameter and supporting HF to Q/V bands, with 3 m reflectors showing a first-mode stiffness above 2.5 Hz and qualification testing including over 30 deployment cycles without performance degradation
  • Large deployable mesh reflectors up to 20 m, small-aperture reflectors, centre-mast PTR and the KaPDA Ka-band deployable antenna
  • NewTEN, a steerable compact antenna launched at SmallSat 2025 that combines a compact aperture and two-axis steering with a spacecraft-mounted fixed feed, eliminating RF rotary joints and twist caps for constellations and SWaP-C constrained missions
  • Axially fired antennas (helical, quadrifilar, Yagi and LPDA), precision surfaces including optical occulters and thermal shields, and components such as mechanisms, gimbals, feeds, booms, brackets, hinges and electronics

Missions

  • More than 10 high-precision deployable reflectors for Capella Space's synthetic aperture radar constellation
  • A deployable antenna for Lockheed Martin's TacSat mission and Ka-band antennas for NASA's INCUS cloud and storm observation mission
  • Deployable antennas for the Astranis Omega-class satellite bus
  • Systems supporting LEO, MEO, GEO and cislunar orbits for communications, Earth observation, SAR and space-based sensing

Company

Tendeg says its agile, integrated process beats legacy timelines by 30 to 50 percent, combining the discipline of a prime with the adaptability of a startup, and it holds a portfolio of patents. Its leadership team includes chief technology officer Mark Thomson, chief engineer Neal Beidleman and director of programs Rory Barrett, and the company shares news on LinkedIn and Instagram.
