Lunar Outpost builds lunar rovers and robotic systems, including the Pegasus vehicle NASA chose for Artemis astronauts.
About Lunar Outpost
Lunar Outpost builds robotic vehicles and systems for exploring the Moon and Mars. The company says its goal is to make the Moon open and sustainable for exploration and trade. It describes its work as building the base systems that people will need to stay in space for the long term.
NASA picked Lunar Outpost to deliver a crewed Lunar Terrain Vehicle for the Artemis program. The vehicle is called Pegasus. It is due to launch in 2028. It will carry astronauts across the lunar South Pole, so crews can travel farther and work longer on the surface. The company names Leidos, MDA Space, Goodyear and General Motors as team partners on this rover.
The company also lists other vehicles. The Eagle is meant to build the base structures needed for people to live on other worlds. It can work with or without a crew, through the lunar day and night. The MAPP is a Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform. The site says it is made for the harshest places and has been tested over and over.
In 2025 the company landed its first rover on the Moon. It says this is the first of a series of yearly mobility missions. The aim is regular access for commercial, science and government customers. Its range of products also includes space-rated environmental stations and ISRU systems. ISRU means using resources found on site, such as lunar soil.
The company's founder and chief executive holds degrees in electrical engineering and space resources. The site says he led the first sale of lunar resources to NASA. It also says he helped produce oxygen on Mars. Another leader earned a doctorate at MIT for design work on the Mars Oxygen ISRU Experiment, known as MOXIE, and continues its operations.
The site says the new space race is about lasting presence, not firsts. It argues that the lunar South Pole is a gateway to space. It also says the company's vehicles help the United States and its allies build there.
