Sealing Devices Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer and authorised distributor of O-rings, seals, gaskets, EMI shielding and thermal materials headquartered at 4400 Walden Avenue in Lancaster, New York. Founded in 1963 by Terry Galanis Sr. and grown through three generations, the company now operates four locations across North America with more than 225,000 square feet of manufacturing space, serves customers in 22 countries and all 50 states, and is ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified, with its sealing products helping ensure the integrity of aircraft, military vehicles and other demanding systems.

Capabilities

• Materials and supply chain: access to products from suppliers including Parker Chomerics and Klinger Thermoseal, with recent additions such as Parker Chomerics PAD 30RB and PAD 120LOE thermal gap pads
• Fabrication and manufacturing: die-cutting, rubber moulding and form-in-place gasketing supporting prototypes through production
• Applications engineering support for material selection and troubleshooting from experienced engineers
• Sealing, shielding and material solutions for aerospace, defence, space, electronics and semiconductors and other industries, including an article on sealing for eVTOL emergency response aircraft

History

• Started in Depew, New York, moved to Lancaster in a 7,500 square foot building at 4375 Walden Avenue and later built the 4400 Walden Avenue headquarters
• Added branches in Erie, Pennsylvania, Syracuse and Rochester, New York, and an office in Melbourne, Florida to support Space Coast aerospace and defence customers
• A 1990s partnership with Chomerics opened the electronics market; quality system registered to ISO 9001 in 1997 and later to AS9100 for aviation, space and defence
• Terry Galanis Jr. led growth from $7 million to nearly $90 million in sales; Elizabeth Galanis became President and COO in 2022, a record year at $89.5 million
• Nearly 50,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space being added to the Lancaster campus, one of the largest capital investments in company history
