Bird and drone detection radar systems
About Robin Radar Systems
Robin Radar Systems makes radar systems that detect small flying objects, such as birds, bats and drones. The company says detecting small objects is what it does best. Its 360 degree radars log thousands of observations and scan every second.
The IRIS radar is a 3D drone detection radar that weighs 29 kilograms. It gives 360 degree coverage, uses micro doppler classification, and can be deployed quickly. The site says IRIS has been tested and certified against military environmental standards.
The MAX radar is a full 3D, 360 degree bird radar. It tracks thousands of flight paths at the same time and produces specialised reports. Airfields use it to guard against bird strikes, and wind and construction projects use it for data.
Drone radars are designed to sit at the centre of counter drone systems, where they cue other sensors. The company says its systems integrate with customer systems and that it has more than 25 integrations.
Customers include defence, security, government infrastructure, civil aviation, military aviation and wind farm projects. The site shows logos of partners and customers such as the Royal Air Force, Amsterdam Schiphol, Dedrone, Boeing, Thales and Saab.
The company says it has more than 300 radars deployed worldwide. It has more than 150 staff from over 35 nationalities, and it says it is certified as a Great Place to Work.
Robin Radar grew from a research project at TNO, a Dutch research institute, that began in 1980. The business was set up in 2010. It acquired the bird dispersal company Scarecrow in 2021, and it was acquired by Parcom in 2024. The company became ISO 9001 certified in 2017.
