Plusgrade
Ancillary revenue and loyalty products for airlines and travel
About Plusgrade
Plusgrade provides ancillary revenue and loyalty products for the global travel industry. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Montreal, with offices in Toronto, New York, London, Dubai, Tel Aviv and Singapore, it partners with more than 250 airline, hospitality, cruise, passenger rail and financial services companies to create new revenue streams through upgrade, seat and loyalty products. In 2022 Plusgrade acquired Points, the loyalty commerce company, bringing two of the largest sources of ancillary revenue under one roof, and it has since added the hospitality upselling businesses UpStay and Oaky. The executive team includes president of solutions Eric Dinehart, president of hospitality upselling Erik Tengen and chief financial officer George Yao.
Products for airlines
- Premium Upgrade, which lets passengers bid for or purchase cabin upgrades and which Plusgrade describes as the most widely adopted next-generation upgrade solution in the world
- Seat Blocker, enabling passengers to block the seat or row next to them and turning unsold economy inventory into revenue
- SpeedPass, offering priority check-in, boarding and security access through existing integrations and customer touchpoints
- Loyalty Currency Retailing and the Loyalty Commerce Platform from Points, a Plusgrade company, so members can buy, gift, transfer, exchange, earn and redeem points and miles, including paying for ancillaries with loyalty currency and through white-label or co-branded channels
Hospitality and results
For hotels, Plusgrade Hospitality offers room upgrades, StayExtend for early arrival, extended stays and late check-out, and StayPlus for upselling spa visits, dining and amenities. The company cites quick white-label integration, intelligent targeting and decision engines and proven year-over-year revenue growth, and a Qantas ancillary revenue manager is quoted saying the partnership has over-delivered on customer engagement. Client logos shown include Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, Air Canada, Marriott, Hilton and Citi.
