Peak Aviation
Online EASA PPL theory taught by airline pilots, from Bulgaria

About Peak Aviation
Peak Aviation is a Bulgarian aviation training organisation that provides distance-learning EASA Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and LAPL theoretical knowledge courses taught by active airline pilots. Founded in 2020 by Emil Avramov and Angel Abadzhiev, who both hold BSc degrees in Aviation Technology from the University of Leeds, it was one of the first EASA Declared Training Organisations in Bulgaria, accepted by the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Authority on 2 December 2020 under reference BG.DTO-005-45-17-40 as the country's fifth registered DTO. Its DTO certificate is accepted for PPL exam entry in all EASA member states, so students can pair the course with any flight school in Europe and sit their exams in any EASA state.
Private Pilot Pathway
- The flagship Private Pilot Pathway covers all nine subjects of the EASA PPL(A) syllabus with more than 100 study hours delivered through an online learning platform with video lectures, workbooks, images, quizzes and e-books, plus live virtual sessions with airline pilots, one-to-one instructor support, a pilot community and the official EASA course certificate
- A preparatory module refreshes mathematics and physics and introduces key aviation concepts, and a crew resource management element reflects multi-crew operations
- Individual subjects are available from 99 euros for students who prefer to build towards full certification one topic at a time
- Materials combine content from international developers with in-house material adapted to European regulations and local practice, created as Bulgaria's first fully digital distance-learning course for private pilots during the pandemic
Language proficiency and team
Since 2022 Peak Aviation has expanded into ICAO and EASA English Language Proficiency testing, which it says has made it the largest ELP test provider in Bulgaria, examining student and airline pilots, helicopter pilots including HEMS Bulgaria crews and, since 2025, airport staff under the new EASA Level 4 requirements, with testing and targeted English training delivered for organisations such as SofConnect, Fraport, Sofia Airport, Varna Airport and Burgas Airport. Velislav Kostov and Petar Bukureshtliev joined the founding team in the early days, and the core group of active pilots and educators maintains the platform, answers every student question and leads the live classes, with the support of the Bulgarian CAA.
