Noptel

Noptel Oy is a Finnish company, founded in 1982, that designs and manufactures optoelectronic products for measuring distance and position. Since 2011 it has been a subsidiary of FN Herstal, which is part of the FN Browning Group. Its site shows an ISO 9001:2015 quality certificate. The company builds its know-how around two measurement technologies based on laser pulse travel time: LiDAR measurement for near-field applications and cumulative distance measurement for long-range work.

Laser rangefinder modules

Noptel's rangefinder modules use pulsed time-of-flight technology and are described as eye safe and made for harsh environments. They weigh from 34 to 250 grams, and the range covers mid-range modules up to ultra long-range ones. The site lists modules for systems, handheld devices and gimbals dedicated to drones and UAVs.

• Ultra long range LRX modules: ranging beyond 30 km with 0.01 to 0.5 m precision, using a 1.5 micrometre wavelength, with measurement rates up to 200 or 500 Hz at reduced ranges
• Long range modules: ranging up to 12 km, with performance listed against a standard NATO target at 4 km and 6 km for the two sizes shown
• Compact modules: ultra compact and light units using 905 nm or 1.5 micrometre wavelengths, with ranging up to 4.5 km
• Wide beam modules: variants of the LRX series with 2 to 3 mrad beam divergence and ranging up to 7 km, meant for observing and watching small objects against a large background, such as birds and drones in the sky or people and boats on a stormy sea

LineLiDAR sensors

The LineLiDAR range is a set of solid-state sensors with up to 256 channels and measurement rates up to 400 Hz. The new LL-90B model offers a wide field of view and can work in heavy rain, dense fog, snow, smog and dust. A channel binning feature extends the range when fewer channels are needed. The site lists uses in traffic management, pedestrian and cyclist detection, vehicle classification, mining, and surveys where sensors are mounted on drones or robots.
