NAL Technologies

NAL Technologies, also called Naltec, makes satellite and cellular communications and resilient positioning, navigation and timing products for land, sea and air. It is based in Manassas, Virginia, in the United States.

The company has nearly two decades of satellite communications and engineering experience. It serves government, defense and commercial customers. It has a Blue Sky Network office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and works with customers and partners in more than 50 countries.

Its roots go back to 1997, when NAL Research was founded to support the U.S. government with the first SHOUT tracking device. Blue Sky Network started in 2001 to serve the aviation satcom market. In 2019, Blue Sky Network received its first FAA certification for a distress tracking solution for commercial airlines that meets GADSS rules. NAL Research and Blue Sky Network merged in 2024. The combined company launched as NAL Technologies in 2026. NAL Research achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2025.

The product line includes SHOUT handheld trackers, such as the SHOUT nano 200 personal tracker, and the SkyLink and SkyRouter families. It also offers alternative positioning, navigation and timing products. PntGuard Maritime and PntGuard Syntrx detect and defend against GNSS threats.

Solutions are grouped by capability. They include intelligence platforms, IoT messaging, IP data, hybrid communications, positioning, navigation and timing, and satellite voice. They are also grouped by use, such as crewed aviation, uncrewed systems, tracking, voice and radio, and video monitoring.

The company serves government and defense, emergency services, critical infrastructure, natural resources, transportation and maritime markets. Naltec is part of the Acron Technologies holding company, and works alongside sister companies in flight data, aviation and safety technology.
