Lantal Textiles

Lantal Textiles AG is a Swiss textile company based in Langenthal. It was founded in 1886 as a linen mill that wove cloth for cheesemakers. In 1954 it sold its first aircraft seat cover fabrics to the airline KLM, and aviation has been a core market since. Today it designs, develops and makes textiles for aviation, railway and bus customers.

History

• 1951: Möbelstoffweberei Langenthal AG founded, later renamed Lantal
• 1956: acquired Weberei Meister AG and entered rail and bus textiles
• 1972: opened two sales offices in the USA
• 1996: renamed Lantal Textiles AG
• 2017: acquired the velvet maker Gierlings-Velpor in Portugal, which became its center for ground transport work
• 2020: developed a digital deep dyeing technology for carpets
