IQ Spacecom

XLink SDR transceivers and antennas for small satellites

About IQ Spacecom

IQ spacecom is a business unit of IQ Technologies for Earth and Space GmbH (formerly IQ wireless GmbH), a Berlin company established 25 years ago whose other division is IQ FireWatch. With more than 50 employees across the two units, the company develops radio communication systems for small satellites such as CubeSats, from a site at Ernst-Lau-Strasse 5 in Berlin-Adlershof. IQ spacecom is a member of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI). Its XLink-S software defined radio transceiver flew aboard NASA's Artemis II mission, and its XLink transceivers supported Reflex Aerospace's SIGI satellite beyond its planned one-year operation.

Products

  • XLink: a bidirectional software defined radio transceiver platform built from commercial off-the-shelf components, with low size, weight and power, support for CCSDS and DVB-S2 protocols, gigabit Ethernet plus RS422, SPI, UART and CAN interfaces, downlink and payload data rates up to 200 Mbps and uplink up to 1024 kbps
  • XLink variants for X, S, L and Ka bands, with optional dual transmit or receive channels for more power or redundancy, an optional power amplifier up to +34 dBm on XLink-X, and a newer SKa-band version; multi-band architectures are available
  • Single, dual patch and high gain antennas in a range of bandwidths, with standard antennas sold online
  • Gigabit Ethernet Space Switch: an unmanaged switch with up to five 10/100/1000 Mbit/s ports for minisats, microsats and CubeSats, 9 to 36 V supply, about 3.5 W, rated from minus 20 to plus 60 degrees C
  • Ground equipment: the AX-60 ground station modem from WORK Microwave, supporting the same CCSDS and DVB-S2 protocols as XLink, and an in-house ground converter unit
  • Go.BIC, an on-demand bidirectional intersatellite connection service that lets LEO operators request L-band capacity within Viasat's global satellite network
