About IMSAR

IMSAR designs, builds and supports low size, weight and power airborne radar systems. The company was founded in 2004 and is privately owned. Its radars are designed, built and supported in Springville, Utah.

The company says it aims to make high performance radar more usable, affordable and available. Its radars bring all-weather capability to tactical platforms, including manned aircraft and unmanned aircraft from Group 1 to Group 5.

Its radar line includes the NSP-2, NSP-3, NSP-5, NSP-7 and NSP-8 systems, plus processing solutions. The NSP-2 is the entry point for Group 1 and 2 drones, and it weighs less than 3.5 lbs. The NSP-3 is described as the combat proven industry standard for Group 2 and 3 UAS.

The radars offer synthetic aperture radar imaging, change detection, and moving target indicator for detecting and tracking stationary and moving targets. The site says the radars can cross cue with optical sensors and support precision fires.

Typical missions include monitoring air, land and maritime borders day or night, and wide area maritime search. The company says its radars detect vessels from large ships to small craft in high sea states and low visibility.

IMSAR says scaled operations now produce hundreds of radar systems each year. Its facility of about 60,000 square feet in Utah Valley allows environmental testing in a varied climate. A radar purchase includes a 4-day training course, a one-year hardware warranty, and a one-year software support plan.

The site shows its radars flown on platforms including the Schiebel S-100 Camcopter, Textron Aerosonde, Shield AI V-Bat and Insitu ScanEagle. The company has held AS9100D certification since 2018.
