About FIATA

FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, is a non-governmental membership organisation. It represents freight forwarders and logistics providers in some 150 countries. It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

FIATA was founded on 31 May 1926 in Vienna, Austria. Its name comes from its French name. It calls itself the global voice of freight logistics. In 2026 it marks 100 years.

The organisation acts as a source of information on international policies and rules for the freight forwarding and logistics industry. It works on FIATA documents and forms, the digital form of key trade documents, an annual congress, training and publications. It also works with the World Trade Organization, United Nations agencies, other international bodies and governments to protect the interests of its members.

Training runs under the FIATA Logistics Institute. Its programs include the FIATA Diplomas, the ICAO-FIATA Dangerous Goods by Air Training Programme and the Young Logistics Professionals Award. Online courses include one on the prevention of wildlife trafficking, offered in seven languages, and three sustainability courses made with the Smart Freight Centre.

The 2026 FIATA World Congress will be held in Milan, and the 2027 congress will be in Addis Ababa. A FIATA-RAMS Field Meeting for the Americas takes place from 25 to 27 November 2026 in Cartagena, Colombia. The site has a members directory, a newsletter sign up and a page on becoming a member. The phone number is +41 22 715 45 45.
