About Extra Aircraft

Extra Aircraft is a German maker of aerobatic aircraft. Its head sales office is in Hünxe, Germany, at the Schwarze Heide airfield. The company builds single-seat and two-seat planes for performance, sport and unlimited category aerobatic flying.

The company says it has produced more than 850 aircraft over more than forty years. Its current range includes the Extra NG, the 330SX, the 330SC, the 330LX and the 330LT. The 330SX received its EASA type certificate on March 5, 2024.

The site says the Extra 330SC has won eight world championships. It says that at the last world championships, 86 percent of the field flew Extra aircraft. The company also says that it has had eight world championships and twenty-one podiums in the past fourteen years.

The company was founded by Walter Extra, a competitive aerobatic pilot. The site says an Extra 230 first took part in a contest in 1983. What began as a one-man operation grew into an international business. The eight hundredth aircraft was built in December 2021.

The company has a network of certified aircraft maintenance partners. It also sells parts, manuals and training. Its news section lists a new sales agent for Eastern Europe and a new general manager for Extra Aircraft USA.

Extra Aircraft USA is based at DeLand, Florida. The site lists a head office phone number for Germany and separate contacts for sales and media. Visitors can also find career openings and a referral program on the site.
