Engine Management Specialist, LLC
Pratt & Whitney turbine engine event management and brokerage, Clarksburg, West Virginia
About Engine Management Specialist
Engine Management Specialist, LLC, known as EMS, has worked on Pratt & Whitney turbine engines since 2003, covering turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft engines. It is based at 2529 Old Davisson Run Road in Clarksburg, West Virginia, with a second location on Industrial Road in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The company does not carry out routine maintenance. It manages major engine events for owners and operators and represents the customer's interests with the engine facility.
Services
- Management of overhaul, hot section inspection and major repair processes
- Engine borescope inspections, reviews and expert services
- Reduce-to-spares and serviceable parts reselling
- Engine part sales
- Engine exchanges and outside brokerage sales of turbine engines and aircraft
How it works
EMS works directly with the engine owner or a representative such as a chief pilot, director of maintenance, executive manager, contracted local operator or fixed base operator. It gathers quotes, engine condition, bulletins and engine tendencies, reviews options with the owner, and coordinates with the engine facility. The company says its goal is to give customers enough knowledge of Pratt & Whitney engines to make informed decisions, and that much of its business comes from repeat customers. Its detailed technical and cost analysis is used to compare the options for each operation.
Engine facilities
Although the company is local to the Pratt & Whitney Engine Services facility in West Virginia, it works with all FAA approved shops, including Pratt & Whitney, designated overhaul facilities and other approved facilities. Facility choice depends on the engine model, event requirements and customer criteria.
Background
The owner and president began an engine career in 1985 as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force, working on Pratt & Whitney engine assembly, disassembly and testing on fighter jets. He later worked at Pratt & Whitney Engine Services in West Virginia as an engine technician, detail inspector and test cell operator, and rose to manager of customer service for all turbine engine product lines.
