A.K.O., Inc. makes torque calibration equipment and runs an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited calibration service in Windsor, Connecticut. The family-run company says it has served the torque calibration industry for over 60 years. Its systems are made in the USA and sold across the country and around the world.

The company began as Avery, Kretzmer, Olcott, Inc. Today it has customers in all 50 US states and more than 37 other countries. Each A.K.O. system uses the company's own TSD torque transducers.

The calibration systems cover many tool types. Click wrench systems come as manual, automated, benchtop and portable models. Hydraulic wrench systems come with benchtop stands, portable units and a hydraulic pump. Multiplier calibration systems use a rotary actuator. The range also includes pneumatic and electric wrench systems, fastener testing systems and transducer calibration stands. A torque watch and screwdriver fixture is also offered.

A.K.O. sells the parts that support these systems. It lists about 40 transducer models, from 2 ozf-in up to 150,000 lbf-ft, with accuracy of 0.1 percent of reading. The TSD6500 digital indicator can read up to eight channels at once. Verification stands let a plant check tools on the shop floor. TorqCal PRO software handles certificates and data records. Adapters, plates and bushings are also available.

The company also calibrates torque tools in its own lab. It lists a page of the tool types it can calibrate and a repair service for A.K.O. products.

A.K.O. serves aerospace, military, power generation and oil and gas customers. It also supplies calibration laboratories and fastener testing firms. Torque tools matter in these fields because loose or over-tightened fasteners can cause failures and injury.
