EFLA

EFLA Oy is a Finnish manufacturer of components for airfield ground lighting (AGL) circuits. It develops, makes and sells series isolation transformers, connector kits and prefabricated leads.

EFLA works with AGL circuit consultants, lighting manufacturers, installation companies and airports around the world. It ships from Finland to every continent. The components sit in underground pits and cans, or are buried in the ground. The company says they last 10 to 20 years and that no faults are allowed in the power or data path of the circuit.

The transformer range includes the KR500 series, which feeds current into the AGL circuit and separates the primary and secondary circuits. The KR600 series has low leakage and supports single lamp control and other advanced monitoring equipment. All series transformers use a toroidal design for good energy efficiency. EFLA also makes KRV transformers for parallel circuits, which are typically used at heliports and helipads, and a stainless steel hanger that holds transformers in underground pits. The standard transformers are certified by the FAA, approved to IEC standards and follow ICAO guidance.

Primary connectors are made for screened and unscreened cable. They form the base of an AGL system. Secondary connectors come in kits and give a watertight link for power and data to the light fixture. Prefabricated leads and extension cords are moulded in the factory so the connector and cable bond fully. This cuts the chance of mistakes during installation. The Sheriff lightning arrestor protects fixtures and transformers on the secondary circuit and helps stop a power failure from spreading through the circuit.

EFLA combines over-moulding technology with deep knowledge of AGL circuits. It uses modern machines and automated production for steady quality and short lead times. Every product is tested before shipping. The company holds ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management certificates.
