About DoD Anti-Tamper Executive Agent
The DoD Anti-Tamper Executive Agent Program Office is a U.S. Department of Defense program that works on anti-tamper protection for military technology in the United States.
Anti-tamper is described as the last line of defense. It protects the key technology in a U.S. weapon system when the United States loses positive control of that system. This can happen through battlefield losses, legal or illegal export to a foreign government, or abandonment. Anti-tamper works to deter, prevent, delay and react to attempts to exploit critical program information, known as CPI.
The office says that without proper anti-tamper, national investments in advanced technology will almost certainly be exploited once control is lost. It also says anti-tamper helps keep warfighters, citizens and coalition partners safe. It supports the U.S. battlespace advantage and helps avoid the high cost of replacing CPI that has been exploited.
The office offers training courses. The crypto courses are a Basic Crypto Course and an Advanced Crypto Course. Other courses are the AT Short Course, the AT Systems Engineering Course and Anti-Tamper Threats Against Components. It also holds an Anti-Tamper Conference.
An always-on intake process lets outside parties send in information. It has an information request form and pages on technology readiness levels and areas of interest. The office also takes requests for assessment reports and for anti-tamper related document support. It posts document announcements as well.
The office points users to official guidance. This includes DoD Directive 5200.47E on anti-tamper, DoD Instruction 5200.39 on CPI identification and protection, and DoD Instruction 5000.83 on technology and program protection. It also links to the Program Protection Plan outline and guidance and the DoD Technology and Program Protection Guidebook.
