Air Force CyberWorx

Air Force CyberWorx is an innovation hub of the US Air Force. It is based at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado and drives fast solutions for air, space and cyber needs.

The hub describes itself as the first innovation hub of the Air Force. It works with military members, called warfighters, who send in requests for help. It also invites industry and academic partners to apply to join its community.

The team handles projects across a wide range, from hardware and software to apps, policy, organisational change and mental health. It adjusts its methods to fit each project and shows past and current work in a project portfolio.

Work is split across three divisions. The Technology Division finds, tests and adds new and established technology to improve Air Force and Space Force capability. It looks at feasibility, performance, security, interoperability and scale. The Design Division uses research to learn what warfighters need and what blocks them. Its tools include task analysis, journey mapping, personas, wireframes and usability testing. The Portfolio Division handles acquisitions, risk management and growth. It builds fast prototypes for the Department of the Air Force and the Department of Defense.

A non-profit called the Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation, based in Colorado Springs, has supported CyberWorx since it began. It was founded in 2015 and links industry, academia and government.

CyberWorx also lists partnership programs, including SBIR and STTR work and a National Security Capital Summit.
