About Defense Logistics Agency

The Defense Logistics Agency is the logistics combat support agency of the United States Department of Defense. It manages the global defense supply chain, from raw materials to the final user, for the military and other government customers.

The agency supports the five military services and 11 combatant commands. It also serves other federal, state and local agencies, and partner and allied nations. Its mission is to sustain warfighter readiness through global support. It has about 25,000 employees, who are split across major subordinate commands and regional commands.

Its major commands cover different parts of the supply chain. These include DLA Disposition Services, DLA Distribution, DLA Energy, DLA Troop Support and DLA Weapons Support, which has sites in Columbus and Richmond. Regional commands cover the CENTCOM and SOCOM areas, Europe and Africa, and the Pacific.

What the agency offers falls into a few groups. It provides products and services for military customers. It handles excess property disposal, which includes turning in property and scrap from the military services. Its Document Services unit is the Defense Department's main provider of printing services, office print devices and electronic conversion services. It also runs scanning and conversion work and manages office printing equipment worldwide.

Customers can order through online tools. FedMall is one of these. WebFLIS gives item details such as the national stock number, item name and part numbers. Other applications include the Defense Automatic Addressing System, the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment, CAGE codes, a joint certification program portal and a supply discrepancy reporting tool.

For suppliers, the agency has a vendor information hub and a small business section. It also publishes procurement policies, defense data standards and guidance on federal and international cataloging. Government programs and events help vendors learn how to work with the agency.

The Customer Interaction Center is a single point of contact for logistics issues. It runs around the clock, every day, including government holidays.
