CILAS

CILAS is a French laser and optronics company founded in 1966, a pioneer of lasers in France and a long-standing supplier to the armed forces. It supplies equipment and systems for the defence, security and space sectors, including laser weapons, laser designators for guided munitions and optical amplifiers for space laser communications, and is a key player in optical thin-film technology. The company's stated aim is to be the European leader in lasers for defence, security and space by 2030, under its Laser and Beyond vision.

Laser systems

• DHY and ALADEM laser designator product line for guiding ammunition

Optronics

CILAS develops optronic technologies including adaptive optics that correct the deformation of optical beams, as well as optical thin-film coatings, with products designed for highly constrained environments.

Organisation

The company relies on a multi-disciplinary design office, its own production team and a sales network, and works with an academic network and with small and large industrial partners. It is involved in the whole product life cycle, from fundamental research to in-service support, pursues an operational excellence programme, and reports an ethics and compliance score of 86 out of 100 for 2025. CILAS describes itself as a human-scale company that contributes to the sovereignty of France and its allies.
