Christen Eagle II aerobatic biplane kits, parts and upgrades
About Christen Industries
Christen Industries is the manufacturer of the Christen Eagle II aircraft kit and its parts and accessories, re-formed in early 2025 by Eagle builder and owner Chuck Therriault with the approval of original founder Frank L. Christensen for use of the name. In summer 2025 the company purchased the rights to the Christen Eagle II from Aviat Aircraft, which had held them since 1991, with the intention of renewing Eagle II kit production and adding modifications and products to carry the biplane into the future. All parts are sold for experimental aircraft.
The Christen Eagle II
- A two-place aerobatic biplane powered by a 200 hp Lycoming engine, introduced at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 1977 as a kit-built aircraft that set the standard for homebuilt kits
- Flown by the Eagles Aerobatic Flight Team of Charlie Hillard, Tom Poberezny and Gene Soucy for almost 20 years, including airshows at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh; all three show aircraft are displayed at the EAA Museum
- Built by enthusiasts for five decades, with the company stating that its kits and parts are the standard other kit manufacturers have tried to match
Products and services
- Eagle II kits, hardware and parts, including services such as wobble pump repair
- Modern upgrades intended to bring the Eagle back into the competitive aerobatic arena
- Branded merchandise including embroidered hats, vintage tees, jackets, tumblers, stickers and bags sold through an online shop with worldwide shipping
History and community
Frank L. Christensen created Christen Industries in 1972 in Hollister, California. Chuck Therriault attended his first EAA AirVenture at the age of eight with his father, began building his own Eagle after high school and completed it in 2003. The revived company describes itself as Eagle fanatics for over 40 years, committed to supporting the Eagles community with the quality and affordability Frank sought in the original aircraft, and hosts an annual fly-in in September with updates sent by newsletter.
