About Chopper Spotter

Chopper Spotter makes helicopter ground handling equipment. Its tugs engage the skids of a helicopter so a single operator can lift, rotate and position the aircraft. The company says it has served owners and operators since 1989, in more than 40 countries, and its website lists a contact address in Rosemount, Minnesota.

Products

  • Model E Helicopter Tug, lifting up to 4,500 lbs
  • Model MS Helicopter Tow Cart, lifting up to 9,000 lbs
  • Model 4 Heavy Duty Helicopter Tug, lifting up to 11,900 lbs
  • Helicopter tug equipment and parts, including wheels, batteries, chargers and hardware kits

How it works

The operator rolls the tug under the skids, secures the connection, raises the aircraft with a balanced lift and steers it with a wireless handheld control. The company says the tug can pivot up to 360 degrees, has a smaller footprint than other aircraft transporters and offers batteries rated for up to 8 hours of continuous use, with an auxiliary power unit available on all models. Batteries, tires and controls can be configured to the aircraft and environment.

Customers

Chopper Spotter lists medevac, police, military, tourism, charter and private operators among its customers, including hospitals and law enforcement agencies. Replacement parts are sold through the company.
