B&A Engineering

B&A Engineering designs and builds test systems and equipment for space, aerospace, defense and engineering work. It is based in the United States and makes its products there. The company has more than 30 years of experience, with deep roots in space-flight hardware and electronic ground support equipment, known as EGSE.

Its main product line is test systems. These come as full rack, mini-rack, multi-rack and benchtop units, including EGSE for aerospace and avionics. The company says the designs scale up, so they can cope with integration, functional testing, automation and changing program needs.

B&A also sells products and custom parts. The product line has configurable hardware, modules and interface items for fast build and checkout of test and EGSE systems. The custom line covers hardware made for one unit under test, along with enclosures, cabling, test fixtures, electronic assemblies and interface test adapter boxes.

The company has its own software, called PLaTE, short for Programmable LabVIEW Test Environment. It supports functional testing, system control, data capture and logging. It works with NI TestStand and Python and comes with drivers for common test and measurement gear.

Engineering is done in house. The team covers electrical, mechanical, PCB, software and systems design, through to production-ready documents. Manufacturing is also in house. It includes cable and harness work, circuit board assembly, CNC machining, chassis fabrication and test fixtures. B&A also offers thermal vacuum bakeout for cables, boards and parts.

The company is ITAR compliant and ISO 9001:2015 certified. It expanded its facility to about 20,000 square feet in 2022. JPL gave it the Thomas H. May Legacy of Excellence award in 2023.
