AviaVox
Automated passenger announcement system for airports and airlines
About AviaVox
AviaVox makes automated passenger announcement systems for airports and airlines. The company has its headquarters in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. It also has offices in Richmond, Virginia, and Melbourne, Australia. Its clients are airports and airlines around the world.
The company has worked in voice synthesis since 1995. Its announcements are built from small fragments of recorded human speech in each language. These are joined to make calls that sound like a live voice. Over 8,500 different announcements can be made in each language. The system aims for correct grammar and pronunciation in many languages and dialects.
For airports, the main product is the Airport Terminal Client, called ATeC. It automates public address calls across the whole terminal. It handles boarding calls, delays, gate changes, cancellations and safety and security messages. It uses live flight data and can send announcements only to certain zones at certain times. For example, it can invite passengers to use another security zone when one gets crowded. ATeC links to existing public address hardware, airport operational databases, flight and baggage information displays, mobile apps, information kiosks and telephone switches. It has certified digital interfaces with PA suppliers such as Bosch, AV-Digital, Honeywell and TOA.
Other airport products include departure gate announcements, LiveCall for live ad hoc calls, FlexiVox for locations away from the airport, FIDS Export and VoxBRIDGE. Airport customers range from small airports with under 100,000 passengers a year to very large hubs with over 100 million. They include Heathrow, Schiphol, New Delhi and Doha.
For airlines, AviaVox offers local gate announcements for boarding and other flight messages. More than 150 airline clients use its systems. They include scheduled, charter and private carriers.
The company says its systems improve passenger flow, support on-time departures, ease the load on gate and information desk staff, and help airports meet regulations, including rules on calls for disabled passengers. They also support silent airport policies. AviaVox works with systems integrators, resellers, consultants, distributors and agents around the world.
