Aviation Suppliers Association

The Aviation Suppliers Association (ASA) is a trade association for the aviation parts distribution community, based in Washington, DC. It runs the ASA-100 accreditation programme for aircraft parts suppliers and has been designated by the FAA as the manager of the database for FAA Advisory Circular 00-56, the Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program. It is not a parts supplier itself.

Accreditation

• ASA-100 quality system standard, with audits that assess a distributor's quality system against ASA-100 and FAA AC 00-56
• Accreditation steps: review the standards, carry out a self-evaluation audit, apply, pass an on-site audit (typically one auditor and one day), complete any corrective action and then be listed in the FAA AC 00-56 database
• Accreditation to AC 00-56 is not effective until the company is listed in that database
• A public list of ASA-100 accredited companies, which showed 1,156 entries when this page was written; most certificates run for three years
• A quality manual template for companies building their system

Audit and certification services

• Audit services to ASA-100, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, AS9100, AS9110 and AS9120
• ISO and AS registrar services, with published policies on impartiality, confidentiality, appeals and complaints

• Legal counsel representing ASA's interests before government, provided through an aviation law practice

Notices

The site publishes a notice about illegal use of the ASA logo and false statements, so buyers can check a supplier's status against the accredited companies list rather than relying on a logo alone.
