Atlantic Airways Aviation Academy

Atlantic Airways Aviation Academy is a pilot training center in the Faroe Islands. It runs two simulators, one for the Airbus A320 and one for the AW139 helicopter. The academy offers both initial and recurrent training.

Atlantic Airways founded and runs the academy. The airline began work on it in 2022 and planned to welcome its first students in mid 2024. Atlantic Airways has flown helicopters since 1994 and has run search and rescue and hoist work since 2001. Its training organization was set up in 2005. The airline began with Bell 212 and Bell 412 helicopters and has flown only SAR capable AW139 helicopters since 2016.

The AW139 courses include the initial type rating for VFR and IFR flying, a version combined with multi crew cooperation, a stand alone MCC course, a renewal course, a night vision imaging system course, and a type rating instructor course. Other courses cover performance based navigation and search and rescue for pilots and cabin crew. The simulator gives pilots the training needed for an AW139 certificate under EASA approval.

A320 courses include the TRI and SFI course and the APS and MCC course, with dates listed on the home page. A custom hoist trainer is linked to the AW139 simulator so that hoist operators can train with their crew.
