Ansett Aviation Italia

Ansett Aviation Italia is a pilot training centre at Milan Malpensa Airport in Italy that offers type ratings, recurrent training and instructor courses on full flight simulators.

The centre is part of the Ansett Aviation Training group. It trains professional pilots from around the world. Its programmes include approved aircraft type ratings, recurrency and refresher courses, and a range of operations courses. All training runs through an ATO that is approved by EASA and ENAC.

The centre opened in December 2017 and was built for training. It stands near Terminal 2 at Malpensa. It has briefing rooms, classrooms, computer-based training systems and procedural trainers. It also has full flight simulators that are certified by EASA and ENAC. The simulators at the site are an Airbus A320, a Boeing 737-800, a British Aerospace and Avro RJ-85 and RJ-100, and a Viking CL-415.

Courses at Milan include type ratings for the A320, ATR 42 and 72, Avro RJ and BAe 146, and the Boeing 737 from the 300 to the 900 series. Renewals, differences training and distance learning are offered for some of these. Instructor courses cover the Synthetic Flight Instructor and Type Rating Instructor ratings. Other courses include Multi-Crew Cooperation, Performance-Based Navigation and Cross-Crew Qualification from the A380 or A330 to the A320.

The instructors have decades of real-world experience. Many served as airline captains or military pilots. The centre also puts weight on customer support from the first contact to the end of a course.

The wider Ansett group says it is built on more than 50 years in training. It has centres in Australia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, including sites in Melbourne, Brisbane, Dubai and Taipei. Its group engineering services division supports flight simulators through upgrades, maintenance, parts and custom training devices. The group works with airlines, training providers and defence customers, and it lists CASA, EASA, the FAA and the GCAA among its regulators.
